About Steele

Steele Ryan has spent a life time learning about racing and about training racehorses. He first learnt via his father, John Ryan, who trained horses during Steele's childhood.

"All I wanted to be when I was young was a horse trainer" said Steele.

Steele gained his training license when he was 18 and trained horses for eight years, before his father persuaded him to move into the family building supply business, Thor Building Products (www.thorbuilding.com.au). Although he maintained a keen interest in racing, Steele stopped training and helped build the business for ten years before setting up his stables at Deagon. He has been training for four years now.

"In my recent career, I've been fortunate to have trained horses like Chinchilla Rose (Winner QTC Cup - Group 2, Surround Stakes - Group 2, Sweet Embrace Stakes - Group 3), plus recent city winners Dance Hunter, Steel Lips, Three Little Words, Feisty Manner and Akbar Mahal. I have a very hands-on approach, but I also have a great team behind me and I know we'll only keep on improving on our results."
